So I have been around the Cannabis industry for quite some time now, and I have seen a lot of different ideologies and companies come and go, and we are now being left with the remains of these old forms of outdated thinking. The best way to approach this topic, I have found, is to let people cling to their own belief systems, all while maintaining a strong conviction in your own. You see, every human being is different, and they grew up on this planet with an entirely different set of circumstances, so they will inevitably see things in a different manner when compared to other people. This diversion of clear thinking is most likely what is responsible for the many variations of opinion when it comes to marijuana legalization in this free and independent country of ours. It’s easy to take the prohibitionist’s route, because demonizing and black labeling is always the path of least resistance. What’s really challenging though is to take up the beliefs of a marijuana supporter, who has to deal with the daily challenges of trying to convince people with archaic beliefs about the possible usefulness of a natural substance that has been used for thousands of years.
Think of it this way: we have thousands of years worth of data on marijuana, it’s a tried and true substance that we know has extremely minor damage when compared to harder drugs in it’s same class. The real danger in our society is the number of new prescription drugs that are being created at an almost exponential rate, in an order to skirt FDA regulations and drug laws to change the chemical makeup of the substance to make it “legal”. Just because a drug is legal by FDA standards does not make it a safe drug, and that’s the dilemma right now that we have been experiencing in this country with the synthetic marijuana problem along with other “fake” man made compounds that are being produced without proper safety precautions in place, and without the guided supervision of someone who actually knows what they are talking about in the medical community.
Most people who start to experiment with medical marijuana will often find that it will alleviate the conditions of at least one health problem that they have been afflicted with over the years. It’s not uncommon for a first time marijuana user to claim that they have felt more relaxed than they ever have in their entire lives, or that their pain levels were significantly decreased in their lower back area, or that their glaucoma irritation was more bearable to deal with. This is an extremely valuable plant that should be looked at as a valuable natural resource, not some drug that high school hippies use when they are thinking about munching cheetos and skipping class. There is now a lot of positive research being presented from around the medical community that has sent shockwaves throughout the cannabis landscape, and it will be interesting to see how things continue to progress from here as time moves forward and more scientific studies are conducted with marijuana.
